I'm a geographer, teacher and fan.

I also come from Montreal and understand that Portland is far away but:

Québec is a "Relatively small part of Canada" ???

How? More than 25% of the population, 2nd biggest city in the country,

20% of the country's GDP...

I struggle to see how it is a "Relatively small part of Canada"

A Québec Independence (even though I'm against the project) would be interesting. If you are interested you can contact me : lebonpy@gmail.com

Well because it is when compared to the overall area size of Canada. In the same way that Alaska or California is a relatively small part of United States in terms of size and population respectively. The keyword is relatively. Neither Quebec or Montreal make up a majority of Canada's population or area size.

I understand that this might seem like I've minimized Quebec, for which I did not intend and apologize for if that's how you feel, but nothing I said was incorrect. I didn't say that Quebec or Montreal were small... merely that they were small when compared to the overall size of Canada which is a really large country by area size and this is very much true.

Also I don't believe I brought up either population or GDP of Quebec in this discussion either so I'm not sure why you're bringing those up, but I assure you, regardless of the primary point here, it is all "relatively small" compared to the whole. Just as anything, anywhere else would be compared to their whole as well.
